All My Tears

When I go, don't cry for me
In my Father's arms I'll be
The wounds this world left on my soul
Will all be healed and I'll be whole.
Sun and moon will be replaced
With the light of Jesus' face
And I will not be ashamed
For my Savior knows my name.

It don't matter where you bury me,
I'll be home and I'll be free.
It don't matter where I lay,
All my tears be washed away.

Gold and silver blind the eye
Temporary riches lie
Come and eat from heaven's store,
Come and drink, and thirst no more

It don't matter where you bury me
I'll be home and I'll be free
It don't matter where I lay
All my tears be washed away

So, weep not for me my friends,
When my time below does end
For my life belongs to Him
Who will raise the dead again.

It don't matter where you bury me,
I'll be home and I'll be free.
It don't matter where I lay,
All my tears be washed away.

this is off of the new Jars of Clay album Good Monsters. the song speaks for itself. no more need be said

you know what blows my mind?

you know what blows my mind? God. I mean, He is the only thing out there aside from a few things He created. that just completely amazes me. I cannot comprehend this. He is, outside time, completely independent from anything at all. my mind simply cannot put that in any sort of framework. it demands a yet higher authority, laws of physics to govern God, dimensions in which to place God and from which to view the location of the universe in the world that only He knows. But it isnt like that. He is. our language doesnt even really have a word to properly express the way He exists independent from the time He created. we come up with terms that can only define this attribute as existing outside of a dimension, a dimension being a restriction. in other words, we define God's eternal infinity reletive to finite terminal things.

such are the thoughts that are triggered by listening to Chris Rice's Questions of Heaven

Therefore

Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart. But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.

Error: "stack overflow at line: 54"

Apparently when viewed in Internet Expolorer (IE) this page here is readable but does not allow the viewer to interact in any way and pops up an error dialog stating "stack overflow atline: 54". at the moment the fix is to view my page in Firefox if you whish to interact. additionaly you may email me with any comments or questions since all of you should have my email address. if I were a professional I would be a little concerned that though I dispise IE the IE users do not have full access to my page. I would thus make a great effort to overcome the problem. however, I am not a proffesional, nor is it greatly important that my page be viewed. I thus say, here is just another reason to get Firefox!

more stuff that is happening

Ive been in school for over a week now, and its going great. We are learning about wood and fabric aircraft construction methods. Learned to sew (for aircraft). Wearing a respirator/face mask a lot with all the chemicals we are putting on the cloth covering. Summer seems so long ago. I am thankful to be back in school and thankful for all that God has provided. Thank you Father!

I got the job tutoring math at SCC. I am still sort of hoping to get the airport job loading cargo, but well see what God does. There would be drawbacks to working there, but also some good points. If I got the job there Jo would be able to work with me, assuming they have room to hire both of us. But, I would be getting a couple hours less per week most likely, which would be a slight hit to the paycheck. I also hear it gets pretty cold out there on the airport ramp mid-winter with the wind blowing. I guess tutoring is pretty good. I get some chances to study on my own when there is no one in the tutoring center needing help with their math. Today was my first day and none of the areas students needed help with were beyond my level, so hopefully thats the way it continues. I dont think I will like being inside all the time though. Better than being cold of course, but if Im going to be inside I want to be moving around doing something besides sitting down over a book for 4 hrs. But its a very decent job and I am quite happy with it.

Well, Im already up way too late. better hit the sack.

stuff that is happening

so I am on the last day of my 4-day weekend, about to head out the door to go over to Coeur D Alene to hang out with a bunch of the guys and watch fireworks. Just got back from camping up north of town in the mountains. Car overheated badly on the way back, had to get it towed back to our house. Insurance covered that. After about pulling my hair out finaly discovered the source of the problems was a leak around the water pump. Hopefully stay home from work tomorrow and replace that. Well, gotta run.

hm, thats interesting

So, what better way to get people to come to church than an airshow? But seriously, this is pretty sad. Is this where the church has gotten to in our "enlightenment". Theres definently a lot wrong with this whole thing.

why do they always want a title?

Sometimes I think that I come across too...judgemental and harshly on people. I mean, I have my views, and for the most part I have pretty strong reasons to think they are the correct views, but where do you draw the line when it comes to truth and love? Or must a line be drawn? I know that Christ is offensive to the non-elect, and He is offensive to the flesh, but God is love, and we are to show his love... at some point we must be sure we are more than just clanging cymbals. People say that I am young, with not much life experience, and that in time I will see that things are not so clear, that issues are not so important. Some even say that I will eventually question what I believe and find "other" truth. Them I dont believe, but is there truth in what the first lot say? There is usually at least an element of truth in any statement. I dont know. I can see right now that issues are usually very complicated, more complicated than meets the eye, yet it is usually possible to reduce them to a core point, that if it doesnt elucidate the matter entirely, at least allows much light to be shed. Then again, we are beset all around by a humanistic reletivistic world that lies and tells us that we cannot know what is truth, that there is no truth, that we are arrogant for claiming there is such a thing and that we know it. We must be sure we do not overeact to such a worldview in our own worldview (a lesson of history), but also, arent we called to be "not of this world"?

Shooting the beatles

I am 20 now. It is actually rather wierd to think I am no longer a teenager. Birthdays dont usually seem like much, but this is even stranger than when I "became an adult" at 18. We had a little party at the Wilsons (my Spokane family) with a few other folks. That was fun.

Last Friday, Jo, Milligan and I went shooting out north-west of town. Good times that. We took Dan's 22 rifle and his jeep, and some food to grill. We shot up a good number of cans and junk, and grilled some potatoes and steak. Then we shot the grill coals into oblivion. Im sure Smokey the Bear would be most pleased with that. The most fun though, was shooting a couple of beatles that came across the path in front of us. Inexplicably hilarious. Standing a couple of yards off, pulling the trigger, hearing the wizz of the bullet, and seeing the small crater where the beatle once was...I tell ya, its funny.

Life goes on and God is good

So my dad left this afternoon, heading back to Niger. That was hard. Its not a fear of being 'alone', its not even necessarily so much that I know I will not see him for a while, I think its really just that I love him so much and it comes out so strongly when he has to leave. The feeling is hard to express. My dad is awesome.

My God is even more awesome. Yesterday I was worrying (which was aggrivated by the fact that I knew I was going to have to say goodbye today) about our housing situation here for Jo and I. Id been looking around for a while for a place to move into because the place I am in right now is first of all really too small for Jo to be here too for a while, and second, because the owners are trying to sell and probably none of us guys are sticking around past June. So nothing turned up really great, but we did have a few possibilities that would have been do-able. Then today I happen to mention in passing to one of the guys at church that Jo and I are looking for a place to move into. And he says, well I just think I might be able to help you out there, and maybe be an answer to prayer. Turns out he has this place upstairs of his little financial advising business office of his, and hes been trying to rent it out forever. Hes still fixing it up a bit, as in, getting a shower in the bathroom, and putting stove and fridge in. But all around it looks great. Jo and I went to see it tonight. Its three bedrooms, a kitchen and bathroom, and not really any livingroom area to speak of. The bedrooms are good size; there are closets. He said he didnt really know the going price of appartments these days, but I told him the prices of some of the 1-2 bdrm places I had checked out and he gave us a figure that was very reasonable. It looks like it should work out great for us. He thinks it should be ready to move into in about 2 wks. That will be less than ideal but very workable, and only as soon as anything else we could find. He loves having the Moody Av guys around, and is totaly behind what we are doing and wants to help us out. We could easily fit in there with Kars and Milligan (two classmates) and I think at least Kars will be delighted to move in. I talk to him tomorrow. Having 3 of us in there would be very reasonable for rent, and 4 would be excellent. God is awesome. I worry, but every time I have had something big like this going on, the last couple times I have had to find a place to move into, He has come through (often it seems at the last minute) with something better than I could imagine.

Ginny Owens

I just got back from a Ginny Owens concert with my dad and brother. Good times. If you dont know who Ginny Owens is, Google her or something. I had only heard her songs a few times on the radio, but liked them well, enough to say I liked her music. I liked it tonight as well. She is blind btw, and plays piano, and also guitar a bit, which she claims she does poorly, which then puts me in a poor light. Its been great to spend time with my dad and brother. It will be hard to have my dad leave in a few days, and weird to have my brother staying. I interact with my dad more obviously on a peer-to-peer level. Strange how things change with time. He is now more of a well known, well respected older friend.

brakes

So my bro, dad, and I worked on the rear brakes on my brothers car because they had allegedly been acting up. We replaced the brake shoes on the left brakes, with some minor complications, but were a little disapointed because we didnt find any discrepencies that would cause the alleged problems, and we had suspected that it was that brake assembly that was causing the trouble. But, then we began to disassemble the right brake assembly, and quickly decided that there was our problem. One part of the assembly had broken in two and much of it had simply dissentegrated. half of it was jammed inside of one of the springs in the assembly, and the other half of what was left was rattling around in the bottom. The brake shoes were severly worn, with one set nearly worn through, and the other set breaking apart in chunks. It was all rather educational. Essentially, the back right brakes hadnt been working for a few days presumably, and thus when Jo took his drivers test on Friday, he took it with only partial brakes. This also accounted for the left turning tendency while braking. Unfortunately, the parts stores had closed by the time we discovered the need for the part, so we must wait till Monday to get the car back on the road. But, Id say this was a Saturday well spent, what with, those interesting brakes, getting greasy repacking bearings, hanging out with my long lost dad and brother, and having a good time all around

got me a phone... and other news

another step towards being "american"... I got me a cell phone thing, one of them things where you get a cheap phone from Walmart and then you buy minutes as you need them and in theory its cheaper than a regular cell phone, if you dont use it too much which we hope to not do-my brother and I both got us the same thing.

Ive been enjoying having my brother and father here. It is rather a strange experience. They dont seem to belong here, yet it hardly seems that I actually hadnt seen them for a year and a half. God is good.

Bloggerell

"Bloggerell- 3/23/06-for Jon"

A knitting circle,
A crocheting bee-
Eating McDonalds
As you fly across seas.

Whittling away-
Sprinkler technician so grand
Look- a completed sock
I see in your hand!

Everything works together for good
For them who so love the Lord,
Who seek Him, and His kingdom first-
And will find provision- says the Word.

Blessed is the man who endures
For he shall receive a crown,
From the Father of lights-
From whom every blessing comes down.

Go and make disciples!
Teaching them to obey-
The things he hath commanded you
Jon, may you never stray!

Be happy to live
Merely on rice, and beans
Showing to them heaven
Teaching them what that means.

~J.L.P.

</moving ><concert>"Jars of Clay"</concert>

Well moving is complete. Has been for some weeks I think. Anyway, the new place is very much nicer than old place, eg good housemates. Yeah...

I went to the Jars of Clay concert last Sunday. Incredible. I absolutely loved it. They could have played more songs. They could also have let everyone in for free. But it was well worth the price. It was my first real real concert. And JofC is my favorite band, no question. Went with Derek and Wan and his girlfriend. Good times.

Moving

Well I am moving to a new house right now. A new guy took over the lease of the place my roomate and I and a few others, unsavory characters, have been living at, and my roomate and I basicly got kicked out with one weeks notice. Its actually a huge answer to prayer. Its a long story. But the place we are moving into is a good house with good christian guys and cheap rent. Want to know more, just email me.

.-.. .. ..-. . .. ... --. .-. .- -. -..

well I had a great time at the Gallops. Ive been back in school now for several weeks. Ive been studying electricity in all of its aviation applications. Turns out Im good at DC elecricity but AC is a bit harder for me to get. I think I understand it well now but Im still not a wiz at it. Not much has been going on here besides school, work, and church stuff. Youth group has been going well and Ive been getting to know the kids a lot better. I give a talk there in a few weeks. so... yeah. thats my life. other subjects of interest: I am working on putting up a new template for this thing.
